Most of us have the same morning routine throughout the week. Wake up, eat, put on whatever is the easiest, go to work/school, come home and get ready to do it all over again the next day.

So, how does a girl find ways to throw in some fun with all of this routine going on?? Especially, when there’s no getting out of work or school?? Fashion, of course! Fashion and your style is the one thing that makes separated you from everyone else at your job or school. Yes, we are all different. But your style is what makes people take note of your individuality and personality without knowing a thing about you. Why ruin this by wearing what everyone else is wearing. Or actually caring about what people have to say about it for that matter?? Don’t waste your time.

  • Are You Committing One Of These Weight Loss Blunders?

Are You Committing One Of These Weight Loss Blunders?

Have you been trying to lose weight for some time now? But no matter how hard you try, you aren’t getting the results you had hoped for? A lot of people find themselves in this position, and it is often because they are committing a weight loss blunder without realising it. So, let’s take a look at some of the mistakes you could be making.

You don’t read the food labels properly – A lot of people do their weekly shop and simply add anything to their basket that has ‘low fat’ written on it. Does this sound familiar? The trouble with this is that such items tend to have a lot of sugar in to accomodate for the low fat, which means such food items are not necessarily the healthier option.

You have no variation in your exercise routine – Do you do the same workout over and over again? If so, it is likely that you have hit a brick wall when it comes to your fitness routine. You need to vary frequency, intensity, and the types of workouts you are doing if you are to reach the results you hope for.

You do not track what you eat – This does not mean that you need to calorie count, as this does not work for everyone. However, you should track what you eat. Otherwise, you will find that you overeat without even realising it.

Your expectations are not realistic – If your expectations are not realistic, you are simply setting yourself up for failure. It is often better to give yourself smaller goals, so you reach milestones frequently and keep your motivation levels high.

You do not get enough sleep – There are so many different reasons why getting a good night’s sleep is important for your health. When it comes to weight loss, you are much more likely to turn to unhealthy food if you did not get a good night’s sleep/

You copy other people – Whether this is a low-carb diet or weight loss surgery, you should not simply copy what your friends are doing. What works for one person does not always work for the other. You are on your own journey and you need to figure out what is going to be the most effective for you.

You only use the scale to measure weight loss – When it comes to how you measure your weight loss, don’t use the scale as your only measurement. Make sure you measure how many inches you have lost as well. After all, muscle weighs more than fat, so you could have lost weight but the scales tell a different story.

Hopefully, you have now gotten to the bottom of why you are not losing weight as you had hoped for. If you are committing any of the weight loss blunders mentioned above, don’t panic. Simply make sure you use the advice that has been presented to right these wrongs. Good luck!

  • Confidence Tips From A Mom, Sleepologist, and Confidence Expert

As you know, last week, we began a new series where we asked everyday women about confidence.  We all go through ups and downs in life.  But it is not what we go through, it’s how we get through it that counts.  In my opinion, confidence is key in it all.  I mean if you don’t believe it, you can’t achieve it right?  Confidence is important whether you are starting a new business or going out on a first date.  Which is why I wanted to know what other ladies thought about it.   We asked a mom, sleep expert, and confidence expert; “What makes you feel confident?”

    pic of Becky Mckeown

“When I need a little extra boost I put on my colored contacts and sexiest heels while listening to 80s music which always gives my sexy back. I have survived 30 surgeries so sometimes those pity party so hit but fastest way I beat it!!”

    – Becky McKeown; Mother/RN

    Sveti Williams

I am a Sleepologist (sleep consultant) I help people sleep well. I teach seminars for corporate businesses, everyday crowds and schools on how to sleep well. I always need to look and be confident as I stand on stages in front of big audiences. My biggest help is : wearing makeup particularly my eye liner and red lipstick. Without eyeliner I can’t speak I get shy and lose my momentum in stage. I have to have it for my confidence. Without makeup I feel small, unattractive and even pale and sick.

    – Sveti Williams; Sleepologist

“I am a confidence coach. I specialise in empowering women to reclaim their confidence and step into their FULLY expressed selves with no filter. Being who they are as is. And knowing that they are enough.”  – Erika Cramer; Confidence Coach

  • 5 Tips That Will Make 2018 Your Most Fearless Year Yet!

5 Tips That Will Make 2018 Your Most Fearless Year Yet!

I say this all of the time and I will say it again…living fearlessy is not easy.  It is something that takes effort every, single day.  Accepting what life throws at you without making any effort to change it is easy.  Giving up on goals and running away from your dreams is a piece of cake.  Feeling the fear and doing it anyway…not so much.  These tips should help you make 2018 your most fearless year yet!

Step Out Of Your history & Into Your Destiny

So you have made some mistakes in the past…who hasn’t?!  If you let your past mistakes determine your future, you will never be able to progress.  Find your destiny by leaving that crap in the past.  You can’t change it.  Focus on living in the future!

    K.I.M. – Keep It Moving

Your decision to live fearlessy means changes are bound to happen.  Bold, exciting life events  like changing jobs, moving to a foreign place, leaving a bad relationship, starting a business are bound to happen.  One thing you must know about making these changes is that everyone will have an opinion about it.  Unsolicited advice will be coming from family, friends, co-workers, strangers and everyone in between.  People will put their fears off on you without even knowing it.   Not sharing so much or even cutting off people might be necessary to keep you on track.  No matter their thoughts remember you goals.  Cut the haters out of your life and keep it moving!

Surround Yourself With People You Want To Be Like

This tip goes hand and hand with K.I.M.  Maybe they have built a successful business or you admire the relationship they have with their spouse.  Perhaps they are ambitious or fitness fanatics.  You can’t go wrong surrounding yourself with people who motivate you.

Think About What You Add To The Room

Walking into a room can be overwhelming, especially when you don’t know anyone.  This is a surefire why to shake your confidence a bit.  But instead of focusing on that; think about what you add to the room.   For instance, at business/professional events your experience as a stylist makes you an asset at a fashion show.  Your welcoming smile makes you approachable at a networking event.  Focus on the what you do add to the room rather than your fears.

Be What You Are Missing To Yourself

Love yourself and be your own biggest fan.  Take yourself to the movies.  Enjoy a nice dinner alone.  Don’t wait for others to do it for you.  You will find people being drawn to you because of your positive, fearless energy.  Which in turn could influence them to want to feel the same type of energy.  Your vibe really does affects your tribe.

When it is all said and done it all boils down to the fact that fear isn’t going anywhere. The feeling can pop up at any minute.  The question isn’t; “will I be afraid?”.  It is “how are you going to let it affect you?”  These tips will help you guide through your fearless life with ease.  2018….we are ready for you!

  • 11 Tips To Finding Your Happy, Fearless Place

11 Tips To Finding Your Happy, Fearless Place

“Happiness is not a destination, its a state of mind.”

I’m sure you’ve heard that one before!  It resonates with me.  I’ve always wanted to be happy.  Who doesn’t?!  But what does it take to be in that state of mind?

I’ve been working on this whole fearless lifestyle thing for a few years now. One thing is  for sure; it’s not easy.  I guess if it was, everyone would be doing it.  I’m a work in progress.  I’ll happily admit that.  Hell, I will still curse you out if you cut me off on the highway.  I just choose not to let those small things define my day.  I’m no therapist, life coach, or guru of all things.  Just a 30-something fashion entrepreneur who wants life to be as full as possible.  Here are 11 things that help keep me on the track to being my happiest self.

    #1. Exercise

That whole endorphin thing is true! Exercise has a way of helping you shake off the stress. It doesn’t have to be a full hour sweat session. Try taking a walk around your block.

    #2. Not Giving A Fuck

Bothering yourself with others think about you, your actions, your outfit, etc; is nothing but a waste of time. And a way to fit your head with negativity.  It might sound easier said then done, but you will find yourself alot happier when you stop giving a fuck about others opinions.

    #3. Unplug From Social Media

Social media is time consuming!  Spend less time looking at what others want you to think their life is like and spend more time focusing on the things in your life that make you happy.

    #4. Set Boundaries

This is a hard one and one that I’m constantly battling with.  Text messages, calls, and emails, DMs, pings…can be overwhelming . Not to mention those that text to followup on the text that they sent 3 minutes before.  Or that person who always needs you to run an errand for them or look something up online, etc.  It’s enough to drive you insane! Set a scheduled time to check & respond to emails every day.  Let everyone know your “rules” and leave it at that. If they don’t get it, ignore them and follow the rules you have set for yourself.  They will get the picture eventually.

    #5. Keep A Journal

Have you ever had a million things on your brain. But things become instantly clear having a conversation with mom or bae? The same works with a journal. Writing down your innermost thoughts is freeing…trust me on this one!

    #6. Laugh Instead of Crying

Life is unpredictable and there isn’t anything you can do about it. When you find yourself at a breaking point…instead of crying, burst out into a loud boisterous laugh. It will help to lighten your mood and hopefully change your perspective of the situation.

    #7. Enjoy A Tall Glass

When all else fails, pour up a nice glass of your favorite cocktail and chill.

    #8. Helping Someone Else

It is easy to sulk in your own mess until you meet someone who is worse. Sometimes its all about perspective. If you stopped and took a look around, you might find that things aren’t as bad as you think. Volunteer at a homeless shelter, help the Red Cross with the Hurricane Harvey victims, be a mentor to kids. You might notice that life isn’t so bad after all. Plus, it will give you a greater sense of gratitude.

#9. Let Others Fight Their Own Battle

I can’t tell you the amount of times I have found myself in the middle of a disagreement that had absolutely nothing to do with me!  Before you know it; both parties are mad at you.  When your intention was only to help mediate the situation.  Be it friends or family, let people fight their own battles.  Stay out of it!

    #10. Put Yourself First

Mom, wife, business owner, daughter; it doesn’t matter how many hats you wear.  You must be most important person in your life in order to be your best at any of them. Rather it’s enjoying quiet time on the porch with a cup of coffee or getting a manicure; be sure to do something for yourself.

    #11. Make The Choice

Being happy is a choice, it’s not automatic.  You have to CHOOSE to be happy each day; it requires real effort.  Getting an attitude about traffic, rude people, receiving the wrong food is irritating.  But a mood changer it is not.  Throw them the finger (literally or figuratively) and keep it moving!  Once you get used to choosing to have a good day, you will be in your fearless, happy place in no time.

Which tips will you use? Are there any you would add?  Let me know in the comments…

This Stylish Beauty Pageant Queen Is Creating Change; Here’s How…

Sofia Griffith reached out seeking a sponsor to assist her with a great opportunity.  She was given the honor of representing the state of Washington at the 2017 Miss Black Teen U.S. Ambassador Pageant.  The pageant gives young African American women a chance to create change within their community through service and empowerment.  The competition also offers a scholarship that helps the competitors to prepare for their future career while highlighting community service.
Sofias’ platform focuses on adults and children who struggle with mental health, anxiety and depression.  She is active in her community through church, school and various organizations.  Wow, sounds like a young woman that  we need to get to know, right?!  Find out more about Sofias’ movement.  Plus, how she styled our Too Tied Dress.
     sofiagriffithinbluelabelsboutiquedress
What is the Miss Black Teen U.S. Ambassador program?
The MBUSAM pageant is a great way for young African american girls and women to be come comfort in their own skin and get a chance to know girls with the same goals as them selves.
Why do you want to be a part of it?
I was adopted by a Caucasian family and was raised in a primarily white area and so I never fully was connected with my culture. And so this pageant has given the opportunity to do that.
How did the opportunity to represent the state of Washington come along?
I was actually contacted by the owner of the pageant Patrice Harrison and I am so blessed that she did it has opened quite a few doors for me in to the professional world.
What’s your most important initiative that you would like to focus on?
Adoption. My platform is The Adoption Option: Empowering Families to Foster the Gift of Life.
What’s your family and school life like?
My family is super cool and relaxed. Living in Washington I attend a very inclusive and liberal school.
What would you tell young women who struggle with their confidence?
I would say to either join a pageant similar to MBUSAM, not only to build confidence but also to make amazing life long friends; or to take part in service activies to help give yourself a sturdy foundation that you can then build confidence upon, ‘all houses are built from the foundation up’
What’s your first move after you win?
Every girl in this pageant deserves to win. However if I we to I would go and eat a whole load of pumpkin pie, and spend time with my family since I can’t see them a week before the pageant.
What’s the hardest part about being in this sort of competition?
Interview. Only because it requires and presentation and my public speaking is not the best, but I’m making progress and hopefully it’s gotten better.
How would you describe your personal style?
Most of the time I’m very fashionable Seattle grunge(weird combo. I know) but when it comes to pageant week in very Blair Waldorf.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I seen myself being an advocate. I plan on still making great strides and change to improve our community in the future.
sophia Griffith miss black teen us ambassador
After this interview, Sofia, announced that she received runner-up in the pageant!  Congratulations to her and we can’t wait to see her soar in the future.  Thanks for sharing you story.  Leave your thoughts in the comments…
