  • Don’t Risk Spoiling A Good Outfit On A Wack Event With These Tips

Don’t Risk Spoiling A Good Outfit On A Wack Event With These Tips

We have all been there.  You find a dress that you REALLY like but you don’t wear it right away.  You tuck it away safely in your closet (tags and all).  This outfit can’t be worn any ol’ time.  No ma’am, you want to save it for the perfect event.   Date night in a different city, perhaps.  Maybe your monthly night out with the girls?!  Or the networking event when you want to make a good impression?  You can’t put your finger on it;  but you will know when the time arrives.
The invite you have been looking for FINALLY comes; “I know exactly what I’m going to wear”  you think after happily sending an “I will be there” text.  The day of the event arrives.  You spend countless hours doing your nails, makeup, and making sure every piece of hair is in its’ proper place.  Hell, you even shaved!   Only to arrive at such anticipated event to find that its’ completely wack.  It’s in a bad location, no one is there, it’s raining like cats n’ dogs and the company you came with makes you want to go to sleep.  All of that outfit saving, primping and prepping for absolutely nothing!  You could’ve stayed at home, curled up on the couch watching Netflix.  Who the wants to go through that?!
Well now, you no longer have to.  Use these tips to never have to waste a good outfit on a bad event again!
Ask Questions –  Where will the event be?  What time?  Inside or Outside?  Your morning look will be different from what you would wear in the evening.  Walking around outside in the dirt versus inside of a building would determine what shoes you will wear, etc.  Ask questions that will help you decide what type of style to go with.
    fashion not fear on iPad
Check Social Media – Find them on social media.  Search the location/name of the event.  Their feed will give you clues on their vibe and what type of crowds might be in attendance.  Good clues on narrowing down an outfit.  Would you agree?
Ask The Person Who Invited You & Consider Their Interests – It will help you tell you alot about whats’ about to go down.
Do a Weather Check – Suede in the rain is a nightmare.  Sheer when its cold out is a train-wreck.  Ask Siri on the day.
Don’t Wear It On A First Date – A dress is only new once.  You can only pop the tag one time.  Don’t waste that new feeling on someone who hasn’t ever seen it or you.  They don’t know if your outfit is new or not.  It could be the first date from hell.  Wear it on the second date or once you determine that they are worth it. 😉

Shop Small – Big chain stores offer a big selection for everyone and that’s cool.  But if you aim to be unique, you are increasing your chance of running into your fashion twin.  Small boutiques are the best places to shop for pieces you won’t see everywhere else.
Take note of these tips and you won’t ever, ever, ever waste another outfit on a wack event again!  Is this a fear of yours??  Let me know in the comments.

  • Pop Up Announcement

    Pop Up Announcement

Hope you all are having a great humpday.  Only two days ’til the weekend.  Thank goodness!  Guess I’m also excited about an upcoming pop up.

One of the things I love about BLB is doing pop up shops.  But it didn’t start out that way.  When I first began BLB, I thought my days would be spent behind a computer purchasing, processing orders, maintaining a website, writing a blog every once in a while.  About 1 1/2 year into it, I realized it was necessary to go offline and connect with people.  This was horrifying to me!  I didn’t want to interact face- to- face with others.  Not because I didn’t want to but because I was afraid! This whole fashion business was new to me (and still is).  Will people like my selection?  What type of questions are they going to ask me?  What if I don’t know how to swipe their credit card?  I feared it all!  But after pushing the fear aside, BLB participated in our first pop up event in 2015 at an outdoor market in San Antonio.

I’ve been addicted ever since.  You can now catch BLB popping up in various cities on a monthly basis!  Its funny how the same things that scared the shit out of me, now excite me?!   I welcome the questions.  Enjoy helping fashionistas shop for something they love!  Plus, I am well equipped for any card mishaps.  ☺️

On this Saturday, 8/5, BLB will be at an event benefiting the San Antonio Food Bank.  The details are below.  Hope to see you there.

3 Dresses That Will Make You Want To Walk Backwards

“I don’t want to see you leave but I love to watch you walk away.”  I don’t remember who said that and in what movie, but it was the first thing that popped into my head when I started writing this.  Who doesn’t want to wear something that looks amazing when you’re coming and going?!  There have been times when I’ve seen a dress hanging in a window that was so cute.  But when I walk into the store, pick it up off the rack, turn around and gasp…that’s when I know that I have to take it home with me.   Or when I’m shopping online and click to see other views of a dress and the back of it makes my heart flutter.  There’s nothing like that unexpected detail that catch peoples’ eye.  Here are 3 pieces you can cop from BLB that will make you want to walk into a room…backwards.

  • 3 Tips On Finessing Satin In The Summer

3 Tips On Finessing Satin In The Summer

Satin can be worn comfortably in the Summer. That is a sentence that some of you might not believe. But you can mark my words…it’s true. Sure, it isn’t stretchable. And maybe it isn’t know as being the most breathable textile around. But that doesn’t mean this shiny goodness has to be banned to the back of the closet when it is warm outside. You have to bring it out, bring it out!

In Texas, it is not rare to have days when the temperature passes 100 degrees and don’t get me started on the humidity. The thought of those sweat stains alone could make anyone un, not walk, away from satin. I get it. But that will no longer be a concern.

Here are 3 tips on how to finesse satin when it’s hot as hell outside!

#1 – Wearing cotton panties will be your saving grace.

#2  Rub a thin layer of deodorant between your thighs.  It does wonders to help with the sweat.

#3 – Toss on a bit on body powder in areas like under your breasts, in your back, and tummy.  This is good for only for lighter colors. The powder will eventually seep through and show in dark colors.

  • 3 OOTDs That Prove You Can Wear Sheer During The Day

3 OOTDs That Prove You Can Wear Sheer During The Day

There is power in sheer.  I can’t put my exact finger on it but it is just one of those garments that you must have in your closet.  Maybe it’s because the material is soft?  Or because it is revealing without telling all of the business?!  Whatever the reason; I’m hooked.   Some view sheer as evening/night wear.  As a result, they pull it out only when it’s time to go out dancing or to date night.  But that doesn’t have to be the case at all.   You can wear to work, church, even your kids school event.  Here are 3 outfits that prove it.

  • Bodysuits: The Good & Bad + How To Pick A Good One

Bodysuits: The Good & Bad + How To Pick A Good One

Bodysuits are everywhere as they should be.  I love a good bodysuit myself.  But I’ll admit it isn’t all good.   They can be fun to style in but there’s dark side to it.  Maybe dark isn’t the right word.

It’s like the first time you buy a jumper.  They are stylish and sexy but it never occurred  to me that being butt naked in a public bathroom stall will be a requirement when you wear it out.  Not that it would change my mind but this is something a girl has to consider.  You know what I mean?!

Well, the same thing goes for bodysuits.  Good thing, FNF is here to help you out with such a pressing issue.  Whether you are new to bodysuits or an OG, here’s the lowdown.

    The Good

    • The days of holding the top of your pants when bending are over.  The bodysuit stays tucked.
    • They are figure flattering.  Lose boxy tops are nice.  But when you want to accentuate, a bodysuit can be a “go to”.
    • They come with panties.

    The Bad

    • If it’s the wrong size, you will get a wedgie with every arm raise and/or bend over.
    • Pantylines

It is easy to avoid the pitfalls.  Follow these simple tips and you will fall in love with your next bodysuit.

Size Matters – Too tight ain’t right when it comes to bodysuits. Don’t go with a size smaller if you want it to be formfitting. If the top is smaller then the panties are a size smaller too. You will be alot of things but comfortable isn’t what comes to mind. Definitely go with the size top that you would usually wear.

Be Supportive – If strapless is your style then you need a bra that provides enough support to ‘em together. This is even more important if it doesn’t have some type of built bra support. You will be thankful that you did.

No Lines – If pantylines aren’t your thing, no worries. Just remember this:
