  • The 5 Worst Pieces Of Advice I’ve Heard About Being Sexy

The 5 Worst Pieces Of Advice I’ve Heard About Being Sexy

Adjectives are used to describe a person, place or thing. Now that I’ve given you your English lesson for the day, let me further explain. ☺️
At some point in our lives, someone has used an adjective to describe you. And it isn’t always favorable. For instance, stupid, was the adjective I heard most to describe me after leaving my job to pursue becoming a fashion entrepreneur. I’m still laughing at that one. But it’s not all bad. There are some adjectives that I would gladly accept. Sexy is definitely in my Top 5. And I’m not ashamed to say it but being sexy seems to have taken flight in a whole different way these days. I mean, have you seen some of the stuff on social media post?! Posting a picture of something that only your GYNO should see is not sexy…period. It’s like somewhere along the lines, the essence of truly being sexiness got mixed up. Or I missing something?

Here are 5 of the worst pieces advice about being sexy that I’ve ever heard.

you have to dress sexy, to be sexy

Dressing sexy doesn’t mean that you’re sexy. It also doesn’t mean that you’re not sexy. Being sexy is not at all about what you wear. You have to feel good in it. A turtleneck maxi dress with leather gloves can be much sexier than wearing a minidress and 6” heels. It’s about how you wear it. You gotta believe it to achieve it.

you have to show off everything on social media to be sexy

Posting a picture spread eagle with no bottoms on to increase likes and DMs is alot of things. But sexy isn’t the adjective that comes to mind. Sexy is leaving a lil’ something to the imagination.

    being sexy is about sex

This might sound ironic but being sexy isn’t about sex at all. It’s about confidence. When you have confidence in who you are and the wonderfulness you have to offer others…that defines sexiness. This type of confidence is what makes you walk into a room with your head high and shoulders back, no matter what. Confidence allows you to know your self-worth and not accepting anything less than that from others. Now…that’s sexy. And it will be written all over face and body language. You won’t have to say a word!

you have to look like a celebrity in order to be sexy

Everyone is born to be there own unique self. And that same thing applies to celebrities. They are them and you are you. Embrace that! If you compare yourself to others, you will never think you’re sexy.  Let them do them and you do you!

you have to choose smart or sexy

You have to choose: Smart or sexy – You can be both sexy and smart. Don’t dumb yourself down. If those you hang with think you are too smart, then maybe its time to find different hanging buddies?

  • 3 OOTDs When You Feel Like Going Matchy-Matchy

3 OOTDs When You Feel Like Going Matchy-Matchy

Going matchy-matchy sounds like a real fashion ‘no-no’ to some.  It’s a shame that this style receives a bad reputation because it should be the exact opposite.  As a matter of fact, wearing the same color and/or pattern on your top and bottom is actually flattering to your silhouette.  That sounds like a ‘yes-yes’ if you were to ask me.

Here are 3 outfit ideas that prove my point…

  • Reasons You NEED A Turtleneck + Turtleneck Fun Facts

Turtlenecks are great especially for this time of year.  But they seem to have a shaky reputation, would you agree?  Think about it, how often have you seen this garment on a must have list or as a top stylist pick?   When was the last time you overheard a co-worker say, “I really need to get me a turtleneck”.  Sadly, turtlenecks are often passed over on the clothing racks and retail tables.  But just because this garment is forgotten about by some, doesn’t take away from the fact that it is a true closet staple.  Take a look at our list of reasons why a turtleneck should be getting their just due in the fashion world.  Plus, fun facts to support them!

    Turtlenecks are internationally stylish.

    boutiqueshop
Fun Fact:  Asking, “Where are your turtlenecks?” to a boutique clerk in certain areas is useless.  The United Kingdom refer to them as polo necks while Australians call them skivvies.
Turtlenecks are a classic that has endured the changes of style for centuries.
    blackshortsleeveturtleneck
Fun Fact: Though the origin of the turtleneck dates back to around the 15th century, they become popular during the late 1900s.  Originally worn by people who were thought to work unskilled jobs like soldiers and officers.  However in the 20th century, more intellectuals who were artists and philosophers started to rock them.
A Black Turtleneck is for the bad girl not the basic.
    badgirlsmoking.jpg
Fun Fact:  In the 50s, wearing a black turtleneck became a way to show off your rebellious and independent side.  For example, a fearless fashionista would wear a black turtleneck to a formal event rather than a black tie.
    Turtlenecks are versatile.
    girlwearingturtleneck.jpg
Fun Fact:  Women in the 1950s really feminized turtleneck styles by pairing it with full skirts, bedazzled jewelry and other girly trends.
Turtlenecks can be sexier than a cleavage baring top.
    girlwearinggrayturrtleneck.jpg
Fun Facts:  These days wearing something that makes you appear naked, is the look some aim to achieve.  We see so much sin on social media and tv that we can become desensitized to it.  But choosing a turtleneck over a top that leaves nothing to the imagination can change your fashion game.  Your lady lumps can still be on display but in a more modest way.  Modesty can be a real head turner, nowadays.
Love it or leave it, the turtleneck is here to stay!  Are you a fan of the turtleneck?

  • @sadeaspence + Falling For Flares

    @sadeaspence + Falling For Flares

EVERYTHING seems to change when Fall arrives.  Once green leaves are now shades of orange and brown.  Grass has transformed from fluffy to yucky.  The sun doesn’t even come out like it used to.  Change is good so I welcome it with open arms.  But have you ever considered how Fall not only changes whats’ going on outside but inside, too?  Well, for your closet at least.  That’s because it forces us to trade our denim cutoffs and tanks for leather pants, faux fur jackets, and suede skirts.  Luxurious fabrics, thigh high boots, cable knit sweaters….now, this is the most wonderful time of the year!

Flares is one of my favorite silhouettes and has been before it started trending as of late.  Maybe its the 70s baby in me?!  So, the thought of suede flares just sends my fashion fantasy to another level!  And I’m not the only one.  Lucky for us, Sade A. Spence fell in love with our Don’t Rust Me Flares and on expressed her love on her self-titled blog.  Sade is a NY-based TV Host & Producer.  As well as a journalist for style, music, tech, film and tv.  She took time out of her busy schedule to show off her outfit ideas for the flares.

  • 7 Styles To Shop For In Fall/Winter ’16

7 Styles To Shop For In Fall/Winter ’16

Fall officially started a few weeks back.  But you can’t tell some of us that because we are still enjoying warm, sunny days, denim cutoffs and time by the pool.

Depending on where you reside, a leather moto jacket will comfortably keep you warm. Or you may find yourself in need of some serious gear to protect you against Mother Nature.  No matter which storm is headed your way, now is a better time than any to make sure you are stylish for its arrival.

Check out these 7 styles to shop for that will help you to fashionably, fight, fierce colder temps in Fall/Winter ’16…

    1. Let Your Shoulder Lean

You can continue to rock cutout styles as the weather changes.  Thank goodness for that.  Make the look cold weather ready by going with long sleeves.

    2.  Velvet, Suede, Leather, oh my…

One of my personal favorites about colder temps is the ability to wear other textures.  Suede, leather, velvet and other thicker materials don’t get to really play during the Summer.  Everything from suede flares to velvet skirts, leather gloves and more.  Fall is definitely the time to experiment with different fabrics.

    3.  Rock the Trench

A trench coat is one of the best combinations of chic and flattering when it comes to outerwear.  The belt creates a defined waist and the bottom slightly flares out.  Thus, showing off the hourglass you’re hiding underneath.  🙌

    4.  Show your military support.

    Salute Jacket | Chic Trousers

Military -inspired styles will be all over the place this Fall & Winter.  Rock it and prepare to be saluted like a fashion solider.

    5.  Something mint, something blue…

These sorbert colors are usually in abundance during the Spring/Summer but don’t let that stray you.  Pairing these light, girly colors with dark, edgy colors is the color palette for Fall/Winer ’16.

    6.  Luxe Outerwear

Stylish outerwear is of the upmost importance during Fall/Winter seasons for obvious reasons.  Since it will probably be seen alot more that your outfit, make sure to select one that makes you feel great

    7.  Wrap Up In Wool

Wool will effectively keep you warm, for sure.  But that doesn’t mean wearing a hot, chunky cable knit sweater.  This two piece wool set is a great example of just how fly wool can be.

    Which is your favorite?
