Most of us have the same morning routine throughout the week. Wake up, eat, put on whatever is the easiest, go to work/school, come home and get ready to do it all over again the next day.
So, how does a girl find ways to throw in some fun with all of this routine going on?? Especially, when there’s no getting out of work or school?? Fashion, of course! Fashion and your style is the one thing that makes separated you from everyone else at your job or school. Yes, we are all different. But your style is what makes people take note of your individuality and personality without knowing a thing about you. Why ruin this by wearing what everyone else is wearing. Or actually caring about what people have to say about it for that matter?? Don’t waste your time.
Here are 10 fearless fashion quotes that will inspire you to break up your routine, encourage you to wear whatever you want to wear all while throwing a finger to the haters!
Which are your favorites?? Feel free to share them on social media and tag me @bluelabelsboutique!
Something tells me that pleated skirts isn’t one of the most hashtagged ootds on social media right now. To be honest, I haven’t done enough research to confirm that. But I have done enough scrolling to think that skintight spandex is on the top of that list. Not to say, I don’t like a good bodycon outfit, because I certainly do! I’m simply saying that the outfit doesn’t have to be a spandex one piece to be postworthy.
Fabric with multiple folds held by stitching at the top or side, otherwise known as pleats, can make for a good look. I think my pleat love started when I was a cheerleader as a little girl. A pleated skirt was part of my uniform. It was kelly green, made of heavy knit, and I had the nerve to roll it up to make it even shorter. I’ve always loved minis too. What can I say?
The key to making pleats look cool AF is balancing it out with something that defines the waist. A simple tank, a graphic tee tied at the waist, a belt…all good waist defining pieces! Here are 4 ways to style a pleated skirt that will land you in the cool squad. 😉
Keep it simple with a slinky tank and gold accessories. (Tights optional)If you are an off the shoulder girl, then wear it with a pleated skirt. Those shoulders will provide plenty of balance.Take it to the office with a button up top. Tuck it or tie it at the waist. Adding edgy accessories will turn it up even more.Model: Katie Liston | 📸: Friedlander

This two piece skirtset has been in heavy rotation for me. First, I wore it on date night to a Wine Bar. I wore it about a week later when I took a day trip to Austin. The next week, I wore it to a movie and birthday party. The set was just added to the boutique a few weeks ago and I’ve already worn it to death! But I’m just getting started…it’s made out of super soft material so its’ hella comfy yet sexy at the same time. The color is popping and it looks great with everything from a pair of sneakers to super high heels. Here’s why I’m hooked…
The high waist and gathering in the front.
The zipper goes all the way up!

Did I mention that the zipper goes all the way up?!
I just love it when a good two piece work together in harmony! Let me know your thoughts on the Hello Merlot Set in the comments…
There is power in sheer. I can’t put my exact finger on it but it is just one of those garments that you must have in your closet. Maybe it’s because the material is soft? Or because it is revealing without telling all of the business?! Whatever the reason; I’m hooked. Some view sheer as evening/night wear. As a result, they pull it out only when it’s time to go out dancing or to date night. But that doesn’t have to be the case at all. You can wear to work, church, even your kids school event. Here are 3 outfits that prove it.

The Drama Queen Dress is a top boutique pick for a few reasons. Let’s see…its a shift dress (which is always a flattering fit), its pink with navy piping (who doesn’t love that color combo?), it is versatile (which is an absolute must) and its’ pajama-inspired (which happens to be one of my favorite styles). Just to name a few! ☺️
I gave you reasons to love it, now check out 3 ways to style it…
Hooray, it’s Fri-yay! I know it sounds corny but I couldn’t resist. ☺️
It was previously announced that BLB would be participating in the 2017 SPIRIT Fashion Show at Carnegie Mellon University. The event was last Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa. I originally planned to attend the event but things changed at the very last minute. You will get the details on that later…
I was sick about missing the show and not being able to support the students from the audience. But since this was BLBs second year styling the CMU students for their annual show I knew one thing for sure…THEY WERE GOING TO KILL IT! And they didn’t disappoint. The message this year was resisting against the limits put on women.
Take a look at what went down at the SPIRIT FASHION SHOW ’17: RESISTANCE.

Special thanks to CMU as well as all of the models and people behind the scenes. Must success to each and every one of you! You can see more about the show at https://www.spiritfashionshow.com. Of course, you can cop all of these looks at BLB.
Enjoy your Easter weekend & let me know what you think about styles from the show?
Let me start with with a quick history lesson…
Martin Luther King Jr. was a minister and civil rights activist who played an intricate role in creating social change through nonviolent practices. His leadership started in 1955 and ended in 1968 when he was tragically murdered in Birmingham, AL. One of his most notable practices was The March in Washington on August 28, 1963. Where it was reported that the attendance was anywhere from 200,000 to 300,000 people. Although women had to fight for their right to be on the speaking platform, I mean this was during the 60s, they showed up in droves to participate in the march. Which had me thinking, what kind of styles were the women rocking while they were fighting for human equality?
The style from the mid-50s through the 60s ranged from clean & perfectly matched to trashy & bold. It was like Jackie-O decided to get rid of those modest suit sets to wear a mini and thigh high boots. Some of the styles we consider trend-setters today are some of the same pieces women were wearing back in the 60s while carrying a fist up or a with a sign that read, “We are all equal.” As a matter of fact, you are probably wearing one right now. Take at the style then and how we are styling it now…

Historical events and fashion both have the classics that we will always celebrate. Maybe history and fashion is related more than I thought. Which is your favorite style from this era?
I make it my business (since it is my business) to wear every single garment and accessory that is available at BLB. Maybe you won’t find every piece in my closet but its been tried on or worn for a day to see how it feels, at the the least. It is so important to make sure that our bombshells are getting the best bang for their bucks. It’s a dirty job but someone has to do it. This research is one method used to determine if a product makes the cut to be sold at BLB. But like most things, there are ups and downs. Sometimes the products receives rave reviews and other times…least just say that the reviews are less than flattering. Let’s not talk about the time the sleeves ripped on 3 tops in one day. I’m talking the same style top, 3 different sizes and each one tore at the seams every time I bended my arms. Needless to say that the top was never available at the boutique. I am happy to say however, that this same fashion recon lead me to give the Serena Dress my certified bombshell stamp of approval…💯!
This beauty is made of a slinky material that feels great against the skin and never seems to get wrinkle. Plus, this girl is a sucker for bold colors and prints. However, what ultimately sealed the fashion deal of approval is the this beauty is perfect for those of us who appreciate a mix of good girl and bad girl styles. And to get a chance to go with either (depending on your mood) is insane! Allow me to explain further. The dress has a keyhole in the front that will have all eyes on you whether you hit the town with your Bae or in search of a Bae. Hello bad girl…😏
(Safety pin or cami optional. 😉)
I, for one, am all about a sexy dress but rocking the keyhole cutout isn’t usually the best style option when it’s time to be professional. Of course you can wear a bra-lette underneath while wearing it this way. But I wanted to change things up. Fashionistas love versatility, don’t we? So I decided to throw on a cami and slide the dress over it…backwards. Yes, I said backwards! Sounds crazy? Find out what happened next…
Pairing the dress with a black lace choker and heels makes it a great Victorian-inspired look that will keep you stylish at a business meeting.

Oh, these billowy sleeves! 😍
Removing the choker and adding a leather belt completely changes the look. Style Tip Alert: Wrap a wide belt around your waist to create a hourglass figure.
With the weather finally getting cold (here in Texas at least) it is the perfect time to break out the leather leggings.
Like a true ride or die, the Serena Dress got your back whether you’re in the mood to be a lil’ good, a lil’ bad or a lil’ bit of both. Would you give the dress your stamp of approval?
Styling is a definite passion of mine! Nothing compares to the feeling I get when I’ve found someone the perfect look. It instantly changes their demeanor. Suddenly, their head is higher, shoulders are back further, and their gaze in the mirror is priceless. Now, that is exactly why God created fashion…seriously.
Follow these 4 styling tips to get that feeling with every single outfit you will ever wear in your entire lifetime. Plus, I’ve laid out 3 ways to style the Brickhouse Top.

There you have it, tips that will have you falling in love with fashion (and yourself) all over again. Which style is your favorite 1, 2, or 3?
Fall officially started a few weeks back. But you can’t tell some of us that because we are still enjoying warm, sunny days, denim cutoffs and time by the pool.
Depending on where you reside, a leather moto jacket will comfortably keep you warm. Or you may find yourself in need of some serious gear to protect you against Mother Nature. No matter which storm is headed your way, now is a better time than any to make sure you are stylish for its arrival.
Check out these 7 styles to shop for that will help you to fashionably, fight, fierce colder temps in Fall/Winter ’16…
Let Your Shoulder Lean
You can continue to rock cutout styles as the weather changes. Thank goodness for that. Make the look cold weather ready by going with long sleeves.

2. Velvet, Suede, Leather, oh my…
Fringe Choker

Don’t Rust Me Flares
One of my personal favorites about colder temps is the ability to wear other textures. Suede, leather, velvet and other thicker materials don’t get to really play during the Summer. Everything from suede flares to velvet skirts, leather gloves and more. Fall is definitely the time to experiment with different fabrics.
3. Rock the Trench
A trench coat is one of the best combinations of chic and flattering when it comes to outerwear. The belt creates a defined waist and the bottom slightly flares out. Thus, showing off the hourglass you’re hiding underneath. 🙌
Military -inspired styles will be all over the place this Fall & Winter. Rock it and prepare to be saluted like a fashion solider.
5. Something mint, something blue…
These sorbert colors are usually in abundance during the Spring/Summer but don’t let that stray you. Pairing these light, girly colors with dark, edgy colors is the color palette for Fall/Winer ’16.

6. Luxe Outerwear
Stylish outerwear is of the upmost importance during Fall/Winter seasons for obvious reasons. Since it will probably be seen alot more that your outfit, make sure to select one that makes you feel great
7. Wrap Up In Wool
Will Wool Off The Shoulder Top
Wool will effectively keep you warm, for sure. But that doesn’t mean wearing a hot, chunky cable knit sweater. This two piece wool set is a great example of just how fly wool can be.
