Andy Kahl says she wouldn’t call herself totally fearless but I certainly would! This drag racing, cancer survivor is living fearlessy and helping people along the way.
Welcome to another episode of Fearless Woman! If this is your first time here, let me just tell you what you are about to witness. In this series, we feature women who are living life on their own terms and making a difference.
And this episode is no different! Meet Angie Karanja. She’s making a huge difference! As a teenager, she found herself fighting off both an abusive step-father and relationship. Going through such difficult times, inspired her to start a movement for raising teenagers.
I’ll let her tell you her own story. You have to hear this…
Told you she has such an inspirational story to share! Want to keep up with Angie? 🤔. You can follow her on IG.
Thanks for checking out her story! Leave your thoughts in the comments…
The Fashion Not Fear logo is about showing the world just how fearless women can be. It’s about being strong, confident, and fashionable enough to feel like you can take over the world. Accomplishing your dreams and pushing through boundaries (even in heels).
The logo means even more to me nowadays with everything that’s going on in the world. Choosing fear at a time like this will drive you damn near crazy! Fear has no place when you have to battle something.
Here are 4 pieces available right now, that have the FNF logo.
A good quote can do wonders for someone’s mood. Especially when it seems to be speaking to you. Use these quotes to get you through the week if you find yourself in a fearless slump!
Which mantra is your favorite? Or what do you do when you need to refuel your fearlessness? Let me know in the comments…
I’ve said this at least a million times on Fashion Not Fear, so I’m sure you’d heard it before but here it goes again…Being fearless is hard!I mean really hard.Giving up and just letting yourself go where life takes you is one thing. But can you imagine waking up everyday to slay the fear dragon by any means necessary? When you’re living the fearless life, you HAVE to!Because fear will come up constantly.Quitting and letting the chips fall where they may isn’t an option for a fearless woman.Nope…choosing to not let fear run you is like a job.The pay and benefits are amazing but you have to put in the work to reap the benefits.

Just a few days ago, I woke up, looked at the long list of things to do for an upcoming pop up shop in Austin, and for a millisecond thought….”I can’t do this. It’s too much.”The fear within me tried to convince me to quit working on my pieces and not do the show. What was the harm? That would be the easy thing to do, right? But being fearless and quitting your goals don’t work together at all.So, instead of letting fear settle in, I jumped up, pinned that list to my vision board and got to work!
Fear shows up all of the time. And not just the fear you have within yourself but fear that others have that they try to put on you.For instance, a few weeks ago I’m riding in the car with my fiancé and step brother.During our ride, the ideas on how to run a business came up.Admist this conversation, my step brother proceeds to tell me that he knows that I have a “little business” but one of our cousins and my step sister are really the “smart ones”. They can grow a great business together (according to him).Meanwhile, I started a business from the ground up 4 years ago and have been doing my thang!!At that moment, I could’ve let his fears hinder me, “maybe he’s right. they are smarter than me?my little business isn’t going anywhere.”But instead, I chuckled to myself, thanked God for my fearlessness and business savvy, and kept it moving.

To be honest, I will have you here all day if I listed all of the moments that fear tried hinder me from doing something.Or when fear from others tried to jump onto my spirit. But it’s not happening! If you have found yourself in a fearless slump, don’t worry, your girl is here for you! Here are 3 ways that I keep myself fearless tank on full:
# 1 – Know that you don’t have to prove anything to anyone but yourself. Its like someone who is rich and feel the need to tell you all of the time.Or someone who is educated yet they feel the need to constantly tell you about all of the degrees that they have.If you got it, you don’t have to say it.If fearlessness lives within you, there isn’t a need to tell everyone who comes into your face that you’re fearless. It will show in your walk and your actions.Be confident about your journey and remember why you started.
# 2 – Don’t be so hard on yourself. There will be times when you just aren’t feeling it.Don’t get down.Give yourself a few minutes to worry and doubt yourself, then let it go.Who has time or a pity party?!
# 3 – Fuck What You Heard –Don’t let others tell you what you can or cannot achieve. They aren’t you.We are all uniquely different so how are they gonna tell you what you can do?Although, getting them to shut up about it might be easier said then done. The listening part is up to you.Nicely advise them that you weren’t asking for their opinion.Or walk out of the room until the conversation changes. But never let the see you sweat.K.I.M…Keep it moving!
# 4 – Take A Break – Do something that doesn’t require thought, fearless or anything at all for that matter.Sometimes you have to get away and rejuvenate.Take a walk outside and get some vitamin D, watch something funny on Netflix or your favorite podcast, read a chapter from the book you have yet to crack open.Doing something mindless to give you brain a break for the fearless resurgence you need.
I truly believe however, that what is for you is FOR YOU and no one can take that away. Not friends or family, fear or anything else, as long as you put in the work to get to where you want to be.Keep your head up, stay positive, and do you!!Which tips were your favorite or what do you do when you are in a fearless slump??Let me know in the comments…
Being fearless is a way of life. It’s like exercising, learning a new task, being in a relationship or anything else. You have to put in the effort and work all of the time if you expect to see results.
Its like being happy everyday. You can find any reason to get upset and be irritated all day. Thats easy. It takes real effort to wake up everyday and make it your goal to be happy and not let outside influences put you in a bad mood, right?
All of this can sound easier said then done especially when your morning consisted of being stuck in traffic, wasting coffee on your ‘fit on the way into work, and your bae deciding to pick an argument before you have even left the house. We all have had those types of mornings. We are human.
So, how’s a girl stay full of fearless throughout the day with all of these shananigans going on?? Check out these techniques you can use when your fearless tank is on empty.
When you are in your grind, there are times when the days go by so fast that you can’t even remember what day it is! Being that exhausted is tough but instead of focusing on that; focus on why you are doing it. It will put more gas in your fearless tank.
4. Sweat It Off
Exercise is the one of the best stress relievers. If you are a consistent reader, then you know that this is said ALL OF THE TIME on Fashion Not Fear. But it’s true, take a walk when feeling overloaded and see how great you will feel.
Setting boundaries is essential when living the fearless life. Without setting boundaries with family and friends, how will you have time to pursue your fearlessness? They mean well, but if they aren’t in their fearless journey then they might not be able to relate. The only thing not setting boundaries will do is lead to you feeling overwhelmed. Trust me. Even if it’s, no calls until after 5pm. They will understand.
6. Never Say “No” To A New Opportunity
Working with new people or saying “yes” to new opportunities may sound scary. No, let’s be honest…it is scary! Something amazing could happen or something horrible may come from it. But how will you know; if you don’t try?
7. Seek inspiration
A quote, a Fearless Woman video, whatever it takes to help give you that boost!
8. Get Away For A Refresher
You don’t have to break the bank to get away. A day trip is a great reboot.
10. Create a list of goals along with dates that they should be completed by
Anything worth having is not going to be easy. If that were the case, we would all be doing exactly what we wanted with no fear at all….am i right?! These 10 tips will should help to fill up your fearless tank. Thoughts on these tips?? Let me know in the comments…
If you look up the word, fearless, in the dictionary, then you will see the following:
Without fear.
Synonyms
frightless
Derived Terms
fearlessness
fearlessy
See Also
unafraid
interred
courageous
Not to say this isn’t accurate. The definition is super accurate but there should be some sort of warning label. Or maybe a See Also Fearless Living section. The section could basically prepare you for whats’ to come should you choose that route. I never looked up the actual definition of the word prior to my fearless journey not that it would’ve changed my decision. But now that I’m well into it, curiosity led me to look up how it’s defined in the dictionary. But instead of appreciating the information it gave, I found myself analyzing what was missing. Which is why I recommend a warning label. Something along the lines of:

When looking for someone to be featured in this series, I like to ask a few questions to help determine if they are actually fearless. Some make me feel like I’m not doing enough and others make me say, “girl please”. Holding down a 9to5 for 2 years isn’t my idea of fearless, it’s called feeding yourself. Or is it just me? 🤔 But I really do appreciate every single response. So, please keep them coming!
When I was contacted by Hayley Carr, I knew she was fearless before I read her full story. Check out the first question that I asked and her response.
What made you want to live fearlessy? Her response was…
I don’t believe in the absence of fear – never once when I was doing something brave did I feel brave at the time – I felt scared. But I wanted to be the type of woman that never lets my fear dictate my life. I believe that every woman deserves to feel free. And when we can live act and in the presence of, and despite fear, we become fierce, and unstoppable.
If that doesn’t make you want to know more, I don’t know what to tell you! But I’ll let her tell her finish her own story.
Who can’t wait for the weekend to begin?! Well, before you start your weekend celebration, please allow me to introduce you to this fearless lady!
Lara Flanagan is a single mom of 9 year twins. Which sounds busy enough, right? Well, this family of three aren’t just sitting around baking cookies (not that there is anything wrong with that). Let’s just say that this family of 3 are serious world travelers! They are currently 6 months into a 12 month backpacking adventure. During this time they will explore areas of Costa Rica, the United States, Italy, Thailand and Cambodia. As someone who will work for travel myself, I really fell in love with her story.
Check out Laras’ story in this weeks’ episode of Fearless Woman.
