The Brassy Top and Skirt dropped a few weeks back. It was one of the most shopped pieces at the Crafther Market that we recently participated in.
Before I made the set; I had no idea what it was going to be. I only knew that I have this fabric that was the same color as a pair of stud earrings that I love.
After a little time, I finally settled on the top and skirt set. Originally, it was supposed to be a dress. As a matter of fact, I made one dress from the fabric. (You can shop it on the site.). After finally settling on a skirt set; I sketched out the idea and went to work.
Most of my time was spent making the tops because each strap was made individually. Then they had to be ironed and sewn on.
The burgundy with a pop of red was a great way to play up the retro feeling that the skirt gives.

As you know we had a pop up shop for 8 days at The Shops At La Cantera in San Antonio, Tx. The first four days was from April 20th to 23th. I went over all the details week one here. Now, take a look at how the final days went…
It all started like it did like it does every show, with my fiancé and I loading all of the merchandise, racks, tents, etc from the parking lot to our spot. From there it takes about an 1-2 hours to neatly hang everything and place all accessories in its’ proper place.
You never know what to expect at these events. That’s why it’s always important to bring your patience. I love to talk and have no problems with keeping myself busy. Although, at least once a day, I send out a help! signal because I am in desperate need of a potty break or snack.
It also helps that other small businesses had pop up at the event. Lucky for me, one of them just happen to sell wine. A girl has to stay entertained… 🍷
Additionally, my girl, Manni, was there in a BLB ‘fit.
I also had the pleasure of meeting so many new bombshells! Corresponding with people through social media and email is one thing but in-person is a whole ‘other level. Who knew that I would be asking questions from what to a wedding to how to make your boobs look good in a spaghetti strap dressed. I am telling you…these pop ups make me feel like I am in fashion heaven!
On Saturday night, I was at dinner and it was ruined once I noticed how fast the trees outside the window were swaying. Not this again. If you read last weeks’ post them you will know that wind is not my friend. The only thing that I could think about during the entire dinner, “can the canopy withstand that type wind?” I mean, it’s a nice canopy but that doesn’t mean that it was sturdy. I worried and thought about it so much that we decided to take a trip back to the shop to make sure things were okay. And Thank God we did! The canopy was on three legs and clothing racks were making a trip down the sidewalk!
Other than the uncontrollable acts of God, the pop up was a complete success. Thanks to everyone came out to shop, chat, look around or simply take a card. I truly appreciate it! And to those of you who are not in the San Antonio area, no worries, we might be coming through your part of the map. FNF is all about celebrating fearless woman everywhere! But living fearless is no small feat. There is certainly levels to this. One of the ways to fuel fearlessness in woman is by encouraging you to live in fashion not fear. Simply put…wear what you what, when you want, how you want; without fear of what anyone has to say about it. If you wake up Monday morning and decide to wear a tulle midi skirt to the office instead of your signature black slacks, then do it! I say, hell yea, to wearing lace gloves just because. Why yes! that sheer top does look amazing with your denim mini skirt! Although this may all seem like basic style decisions to you, it’s not that easy for some people in the world. There are certain areas of the world where showing your knees can land you in some serious trouble. That means no denim cutoffs, can you imagine? Personally, I would do anything for the right dress…damn near. But a baggy orange jumpsuit with flip-flops isn’t exactly my idea of setting a trend. So, you better believe I follow these fashion rules to the tee.

There are Islamic countries that require women, by law, to conceal their entire body in public or in the presence of any adult males outside of their family.
In Qatar, a law was established that punishes and forbids anyone from wearing revealing or indecent clothes. They even have an organization that created a campaign that targeted those who are not covering their shoulders and knees. As well as those whos’ clothing is tight or transparent.
In Dubai, there are signs displayed at some malls and shopping centers indicating their dress code. Shoulders and knees must be covered and no revealing clothes are allowed. As a matter of fact, breaking the law could get you a warning or you can get arrested.
In the first decade of the 21st century, there was some controversy in some southern U.S. states over sagging pants. The style was banned in some places.
In Sudan, woman must wear dresses, socks & hijab.
In areas of Iran, women must cover their head with a scarf and wear trousers or a floor length skirt.
In Morocco, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) recommends dressing modestly. Some consider it disrespectful to show your knees and shoulders.
In Saudi Arabia, Saudi women cannot appear in public without their heads covered.
I lived in Izmir, Turkey, for a year. During that time, my family was advised to dress modest while in public as a precaution. Everyone has a different perspective. Some have followed these rules their entire life and don’t know what it is like to wear what they want. Others, follow for religious reasons, which I can certainly appreciate.

I love a good accessory like the next person. In fact, you can’t stop me from rocking a good statement necklace. But there is nothing like wearing something that requires nothing but shoes and maybe a bag. Let me take that back, every outfit requires a bag!
There are certain garments though, that you wouldn’t dare kill by wearing it with a necklace, choker, or any other type of neckwear for that matter. Simply, because it just wouldn’t work with your outfit. Maybe the embroidered dress with the gold chains looks too busy or maybe that velvet choker isn’t quite right with that top.
