How to Become a Successful Fashion Blogger

If fashion is your passion, you might be wondering how you can turn it into a career. There are, of course, a lot of options from being a fashion designer to becoming a professional model, but one of the easiest careers to get started in is that of a fashion blogger.

Anyone with a few dollars and something to say can start their own fashion blog, and although you might never be as famous as Chiara Ferragni or Lydia Rose (although there is no reason why you could not be) if you create interesting content regularly, you could earn a living writing about your number one passion: fashion.

If that sound like something you would like to do, here are some tips to help you become a successful fashion blogger starting right now:

    Choose your niche

If you want to be a fashion blogger, it is a really good idea to specialize in one area of fashion such as plus size fashion or alternative fashion, than it is to be a generalist. Why? Because it is easier to corner a niche market than it is to get your voice heard in a general one.

So take some time to think about which niches you have a particular interest in, and choose one area of fashion that you know you can write about with confidence.

    Build a beautiful blog

People who are into fashion like things to look good, so if you want to succeed as a fashion blogger, you need an attractive blog. If you build with WordPress, there are so many free and paid-for templates that look good and do not require any web design skills which will make your life easier. If you do use WordPress, we suggest Nestify for hosting as the pair work well together to deliver style and performance.

    Create killer content

Now for the hard part. If you want to be a successful fashion blogger, you need to create killer content that people will want to read. How you do this is up to you, but think about the kind of things people will search for like “how to wear jeans well” or “Ways to wear a silk scarf” and start there.

Ideally, you should create lots of different forms of content from fashion news and reviews to reports on ethical fashion and lists of the top 10 designers at London Fashion Week. The more variety you have in your content, within your niche, the more hits you are likely to get.

Of course, you should not just create content by numbers; you should always have something to say and you should have your own unique way of saying it, or why would anyone bother to read your blog over the hundreds of others?

    Market it

Now, all that remains is to post links to your blog on social media, other fashion blogs, and anywhere else your target audience may be reading.

As you can see, starting out as a fashion blogger is not so difficult, and if you have passion and drive, there is no reason why you cannot succeed. So, what are you waiting for?

What’s the song you play when it’s time to get ready to go out with your girls?
It changes ever so often but at the moment, our get-ready songs are Humble by Kendrick Lamar and Shape of You by Ed Sheeran
If I had to wear the same color every single day, it would be ______________.
That’s quite the tough question! I love variety so it would be tough to wear the same color every day but I would wear orange everyday if possible. I love the way it compliments my skin tone. My second option is black because it’s a neutral tone, which means I can go wild with my accessories.
What’s the best thing about rocking natural hair?
The best thing about rocking natural hair is my ability to be versatile. The texture of my hair allows me to get as fun and creative with styles as I want.
    Why do you like fashion?
I don’t like fashion, I LOVE fashion. It gives me freedom and control to express myself creatively through my own presentation. With fashion I can be whomever I want, whenever I want, with no limitations.
What’s the most fearless thing you have done?
The most fearless thing I have done (and continue to do) was to stop allowing fear to dictate my next step. At some point in my life I started to realize that I missed out on a lot of opportunities because I was always fearful of the “What-If” but I accepted the truth that I was not given the spirit of fear. Now I dive into new opportunities, no matter how unfamiliar and scary they may seem, because I would never know if it is meant to be if I don’t take on the challenge in the first place.

6 Garments Everyone Into Fashion Should Be Wearing This Summer

Last week, I received an email asking, “How do you know when something is going to be a trend?” & “What will be this Summers’ trends?”   Two-part question…love it!

My reply to the first part of the question was, “I know a style is going to be a trend when you can’t wear all of the time…period. For instance, in the 90s when the MC Hammer inspired saggy crotch pants came out, everyone was wearing them! I wanted them so bad.  My mom made a pair for me because we couldn’t afford to buy them in the store. But even then, I knew that they wouldn’t last long. They were a definite trend….Thank God!  But something like a lace dresses is completely different. You can wear it to an office party, wedding, or girls night at the club 5 years from now and be stylish as hell. When it’s a trend, you just know that it won’t be around long.

Summer is T minus 30 days away, so I figured I had to share my answer to the second question.   So, if you consider yourself to be a “fashion person” relax and take note.  Here are 6 pieces you should be rocking this Summer…

    1. A Fun Bag – Unique, statement-making clutches are the top accessories to carry this Summer.

    2. The PJ Inspiration – Pajama or loungewear inspired looks will make perfect OOTDs. Make sure they are still suitable to wear outside, so leave the boxers at home.   Look for details like piping, covered buttons and pieces made of satin material.

    3. Denim Dress – The denim dress is forever classic but the update on this one is perfect for the Summer.  Frayed sleeves & trumpet hem…need I say more?

    4.  A kimono – This is definitely not a new style.  The kimono will give you endless style options from formfitting dresses underneath to a tee with denim cutoffs.

    5.  Something Blue – Royal blue to be exact.  It will be the bold color to rock this Summer!

     6. Cutouts – Cutouts aren’t going anywhere.  Thank goodness. ☺️

    @sadeaspence + Falling For Flares

EVERYTHING seems to change when Fall arrives.  Once green leaves are now shades of orange and brown.  Grass has transformed from fluffy to yucky.  The sun doesn’t even come out like it used to.  Change is good so I welcome it with open arms.  But have you ever considered how Fall not only changes whats’ going on outside but inside, too?  Well, for your closet at least.  That’s because it forces us to trade our denim cutoffs and tanks for leather pants, faux fur jackets, and suede skirts.  Luxurious fabrics, thigh high boots, cable knit sweaters….now, this is the most wonderful time of the year!

Flares is one of my favorite silhouettes and has been before it started trending as of late.  Maybe its the 70s baby in me?!  So, the thought of suede flares just sends my fashion fantasy to another level!  And I’m not the only one.  Lucky for us, Sade A. Spence fell in love with our Don’t Rust Me Flares and on expressed her love on her self-titled blog.  Sade is a NY-based TV Host & Producer.  As well as a journalist for style, music, tech, film and tv.  She took time out of her busy schedule to show off her outfit ideas for the flares.
