  • Blue Labels Boutique Is Joining The Fight & Standing Up To Cancer

1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.  Yes, the numbers are that high!  With numbers like this, there is no doubt that most of us have been touched by cancer in some way.

Here is how it touched me.  I’ll make it fast because just typing these words are difficult.  In December of 2013, I received a text from one of my cousins advising that she had been diagnosed with cancer.  Reading that message, left me stunned, surprised, confused, hurt and a host of other feelings.  Nothing even close to what she must have felt.  She lived in another city so we kept in touch by phone, email and our family group texts that we kept going.  Her messages were so positive.  I remember one in particular where she texted, “Actually, it could be much worse.  God is good.  Thanks for praying.  Love you.”  That alone, is an indication of the type of person she was.  In October of 2014, she was checked into the hospital and a few days later, we lost her.  She was only 46 years old.  She was a God-loving educator and Navy retiree.  She kept the family organized, stayed positive, had the kindest heart ever and kept a smile on her face.  Which in turn always put a smile on mine.  The last time we spoke, she was fussing about the disorganization of the Family Reunion.  Told you, she was a family organizer!  At the funeral, I chose to not view her laying lifeless in a casket, but I’d rather remember her fussing about small stuff and making me laugh.  She was truly a woman that anyone would look up to and she will never be forgotten.  Love you always, T. Baby

Donating to the Stand Up To Cancer Organization is our way to help in the effort of stopping this horrible disease in its tracks.  Their mission statement is, “This is where the end of cancer begins: when we unite in one unstoppable movement and Stand Up To Cancer.”  Their goal is to mission is to raise funds to accelerate the pace of groundbreaking translational research that can get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now.

As a result, we are pleased to announce that effective February 19, 2015, we are standing up by donating 1% of our total sales to the organization.  Also, we offer the opportunity for you to stand up, too!  How?!  Well, during the checkout process,  you will be given the opportunity to “round up” your total.  For instance, if your total is $24.50, you can round your total up to $25.00.  And the $.50 will be donated to the Stand Up To Cancer Organization.  Each month the collected proceeds will be donated to the organization. Whether it has touched you or you just want to help…Stand Up and DONATE!
