    Things have been soooo busy around here lately.  There’s so much that I just can’t wait to share.  For today, I’m sharing details about the runway show.  Yes you read right, Blue Labels Boutique will be in our first runway show!  It’s been exciting planning but between model casting, runway meetings, and curating a collection, there’s isn’t time left for much else.

    The show is still a few weeks away and there’s still lots of things to do.  Stay tuned to get a peek at what goes on behind the scenes.  But for now, will you be there?

    Whether there’s only one product to capture or multiple products, photoshoots can make for a long day.  There’s so much involved.  First comes the vision, then you have to be able to convey that vision to the photographer so that they can capture the look.  There’s making sure you have models, make-up, the perfect look for the perfect model, lighting, time constraints, fabric emergencies and the list goes on!  All of this getting worked up only to get what you deem to be the “perfect picture”, one single picture.  😳

    Although the audience only gets to see one picture, there’s alot going on behind the scenes.  Take a look at the shit we should’ve shown from our last photoshoot!

    This time we styled it casually with a tee, denim, and body chain.  You can also style it with a body con dress under or with trousers and a crop, with a leather mini and fringe booties…the options really are endless.  But the feminine details like the front pintucks and racerback sets the Taupe It Back Vest above the others.

     

  • To Bang Or Not To Bang…That Is The Question!

    There are certain situations that can give a stylish woman sleepless nights.  The anticipation of getting ready for an upcoming event, the disappointment of not finding the shoes you’ve been looking for and our hair.  Hair being the most important thing, of course.  Yes…we stresses over the tresses!  As well we should, the crown of glory on top of your head is like the ultimate accessory.  The wrong hairstyle can kill your outfit no matter what you’re wearing.

    When it’s comes to hair we usually fall into one of two categories.  You’re either a Serial Changer, meaning you change it up as often as you change nail polish.  Or you’re a Commitment Queen, you found a flattering hairstyle some years ago and have decided to just go with it.  No matter which category you fall into, every women needs a little tune up every now and then.   And although some may find it scary, even the slightest change can give you just tune up you’ve been looking for.   With the seasons changing from Summer to Fall, this is the perfect time to try a new look.   Simply wearing bangs this season can turn your look all the way up!  Or can they?  These forehead friendly hairs are like alot of things in life.  you either like them or you don’t.  That’s why I decided to help you make the decision by answering the question.  To bang or not to bang?  Let’s take a look!

    For inspiration, I did a lil’ bit of research to see who else had tried out the bang life?

    Gwen Stefani went from being bored, bang-less to rocking out in a sexy side swept bang.
    After being bang-less my entire life, I decided to see what this bang life was about to help you make a well informed decision.  Here’s what I found:
    PROS
    • Completely changes your look.  The reception to my new ‘do was great.  Going into meetings, I continuously heard, “I like your hair like that, what did you do different?”  They knew something was different but couldn’t quite put their finger on it.  Sexy and mysterious???  I liked that!
    • Easy maintenance.  Simply use a flat iron to keep them together.
    • Versatile – blunt cut, side swept, eyelash length, short Betty Paige style, the options are endless.
    • Depending on the length you go with, you can save time on getting ready.  With longer lengths, you may find the need for eyeshadow unnecessary.  Eye liner, mascara, add lipstick and you’re ready to go!
    • After joining the bang crew, I started to look around to see how many women had bangs vs. the amount that didn’t.  I found that more women were bang-less.  This works perfectly if you aim to be different.
    CONS
    • Give yourself some time to adjust.  The first week, I must’ve rearrange them at least 50 times throughout the day.
    • When sweating, they just stick to your face.  So before heading to the gym, you may want to throw on a stylish headband to hold them off your face.
    • Do your research before the big chop.  It’s a commitment, once they are cut, there’s no going back!
    As you can see the pros definitely outweighed the cons.  I’ve got my bangs poppin’ with no plans to turn back, not just yet anyway.   To Bang or Not To Bang…if that is the question.  My answer? Bang, bang baby!

    We are a fairly new store and we thought our logo should be a bit more like out lifetyle…modern, unique, and speaks for itself without having to day a word.

    Why did you start blogging?
    I read blogs for almost two years before starting my own.  I started blogging as a creative outlet from my job as a system engineer. Since I was no longer in college, I was no longer dancing, being active in a sorority, etc. and I needed something to dedicate my evenings to. (Besides binge watching shows on Netflix ;))
     What’s the most fearless thing you have ever done?
    It may be cliche, but putting my life on the Internet through my blog. Putting something on the internet opens you up to criticism. I have been lucky enough to not have any rude comments left on my blog, but I am sure the day is coming eventually! It’s been a lesson to learn to not take anything said by someone behind a screen name personally.
    How would you describe your style?
    My style is pretty classic. I like to mix in different touches of fun through patterns, accessories, etc. but overall I embrace a classic style.
    Heels of flats?
    Flats! I’m at work for 9 hours a day so getting me in heels for anything other than a date night is pretty rare! With all the cute options for flats now, what’s not to love?
    Share your favorite style tip.
    You don’t have to embrace every trend. I think there’s a lot of pressure, especially in the blogging world, to jump on every trend possible. I think we should only follow the trends we love. For example, overalls are just something that aren’t for me. Rather than feel like I have to wear them because everybody is, it’s a trend I’ll pass on.

    Trends come and go.  Some have left the building and need to stay far, far away.  Bright lips lined with black liner and those little butterfly hair clips, Sara Michelle Gellar, style.  Just to name a few.  Thank goodness those haven’t made a return.  But what about those trends that you let go of, because you knew it was time, be prayed for the day it would make its’ return?!
    In the 90’s, Lil’ Kim showed us just how sexy a choker can be.  Watching Hillary, on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in a baby doll dress, Doc Martens, and choker showed us how feminine they are.  And Kelly, strutting down the halls of Bayside High in her denim, tank, suspenders and thin lacy choker showed us just how playful they are.  How could you not be style envious?  Well, you choker lovers out there, I’ve got some news for you…they’re baaack!  Yep, it’s time to rejoice because this style is back in a major way.   And to help you back in the swing of things, you can take note of these tips on your next accessory shopping adventure.  It will make the difference in looking like a piece of neck art or just an awkward piece of material stuck to your neck.
