Kanye Wests’ Latest Collection
On Thursday of last week, Kanye West debut his newest fashion collection along with his album at Madison Square Garden. I was lucky enough to stream the event live on Tidal, so it felt like I had some sort of behind the scenes access! Picture this…a huge stadium filled with people, with two huge silky sheets of fabric billowing upwards to create a sort of dome to cover what was going on underneath. Off to the side, Kanye can be seen orchestrating what is about to happen, talking to this person, pointing in different directions, and adjusting what looks to be a playlist on his phone or something. Suddenly, the must starts and you can’t help to bob your head to his music that was pumping out of those speakers. Then, just as you’re are grooving to the music and can no longer stand the anticipation…the sheets come down, and they finally reveal what’s going on under all of that fabric. Two tall high rises full of models. One of female models and the other was men. Plus, hundreds (at least it looked like hundreds) of models on the floor surrounding the high-rises. Not to mention legends Naomi Campbell and Veronica Webb graced the scene! Each of them wearing a mean-mug and Kanyes’ collection. The unique color blocking, luxe fabrics, tantalizing textures, and stunning silhouettes left me wanting to shop the collection right away. For me, music and fashion have always gone together like wheat rice and soy sauce. If I’m feeling sexy, you might catch me in the closet looking for my favorite bodycon dress while dancing to Miguel. Or rocking future Future and riding with the roof open in my ripped denim, crop, and floppy hat. It’s all about the mood that fashion and music give. 2. NBA All Star Weekend
The past few years of NBA All Star Events have not been as exciting as they used to. But this year was something different. The celebrity game left me laughing so hard that I was crying. Plus, the 3 point shooting and slam dunk contest left me leaping off the couch like a frog. Yep, it was definitely the best in quite some time. But as usual, I kept a keen an on the fashion. Toronto was super cold so it was definitely fun to see how people styled themselves in that cold ass weather! Kanye wasn’t the only music star to debut clothing in NYFW. Rhianna also debut get her new collection. It is the epic mix of athleisure style with lots of sex appeal. A few months back, spring 2016 fashion weeks ended, where the top designers and brands showed their new collections. In this very special feature, we will talk of the most practical fashion trends straight from spring 2016 runways.
High on the shoulders: Honestly, spring is easily the most stylish season of the year, with everyone having a virtual license to try new things. This season, you will see a lot of high-end futuristic dresses, which have really powerful cuts for the shoulders. This is one of those trends that most girls can afford and experiment with, because aside the big designers, you will also find many regular brands and online stores selling these dresses. The idea is to let your hair down, tone down the makeup and flaunt a casual yet powerful spring outfit with statement accessories. One of the people that influenced my love of fashion was my grandmother (not pictured above) on my fathers side. My parents weren’t married and I lived with my mother so I didn’t get to see my grandmother all of the time. But when I did, her style left me in awe. She had a creamy caffe latte complexion and a perfect head of long, black hair. She kept her manicured, pointy nails painted red with a fancy diamond ring on almost each finger. And her clothes…oh my goodness! Everything fit like a glove and I always took note of how her accessories always added the perfect detail. This woman defined glam. One of my fave was the way that she wore a brooch. Those little shiny things seem to change everything about her outfit!
Say the word brooch today and some run for fear of sounding ol’ skool or Granny. But don’t get it twisted, you may have seen your granny rocking a brooch but it isn’t just for your lil ol’ grandmother. Yep, you can steal grannies style and make it your own. It’s Fri-yay and I’m ready to par-tay! How ‘bout you? Although, there’s no such thing as having a day off for me, there is still something about Friday that puts a special feeling in the air. Maybe it’s the need to feel the freedom that the weekend gives us? Because from Monday through Friday, most of us have some sort of daily hustle. Whether it’s the grind of fighting traffic on your way to work everyday or getting kids ready and off to school. You are a hustler my dear, in one way or another. And the weekend (for the most part) gives hustlers a chance to take a quick rejuvenation break. With all of that being said, it’s obvious why Friday stands for F a schedule, I’m going to do with the whatever I want!
So, if you don’t have any plans for the weekend, check these fun ways to add a bit of spice to your weekend.
✰ Bae Time – If you have a boo, start the alphabet game today. Assign each one of you a letter of the alphabet and that person has to create a date that starts with the corresponding letter. For instance, if you get the letter “I”, you might pick a date where the two of you go Ice Skating. It’s a great way to come up with creative things to do with your partner on your off days. You get to experience new things together and share some laughs. Can’t go wrong with that!
✰Volunteer – if you took the time right now to google volunteer opportunities in your area, you will tons of open volunteer opportunities. Loaning a few hours of your time is a great way to kickstart your weekend. Good deed…check!
✰Running Mates – Search for meet ups in your area on different social media platforms. Then meet up with them on their run. Make sure to do your research to make sure that the group is legit. You just might find that running with new people makes you challenge yourself more and you just might meet a new friend.
✰Day Drinking – Am I the only willing to admit that day drinking is one of the best things about the weekend? There’s nothing like sitting on an outside patio while enjoying a light brunch and mimosas. As long as the weather is nice, of course. In Texas, this is a definite option. Be sure to check for restaurants that offer bottomless mimosas. It’s budget friendly. But enjoy responsibly, of course.
✰Fam’ Time – If your weekend is all about spending time with your family then take advantage of being outside, if the weather permits. There are plenty of deals out there for inexpensive or even free family events like museum visits that will keep the kiddos entertained. You might learn a thing or two yourself. If the weather doesn’t permit, make everyone put away their electronic devices and break out a board game. Nothing like a game of Monopoly to get the fam’ going.
✰Do You – Do something for YOU! Whether it’s taking a nap, getting a manicure or shopping a good sale. Make sure to take a lil’ time for yourself. It’s a great way to help you feel rejuvenated by the time Monday comes around.

Instagram is flooded with pics of people who solemnly swear that wearing their waist trimmer is the best way to obtain the ultimate silhouette. No shade to my waist trim wearers out there but there’s another way to achieve hourglass figure status. You can do it with style. A more comfortable, less sweaty solution is colorblocking!
Simply put, colorblocking is mixing bold, bright colors in one outfit. There can be an artform to colorblocking. It’s a fun way to mix and play with different color palettes. But with proper color placement, it can give you the shape you want and it’s super easy!
