Have you ever thought about how fashion and art go together like peanut butter and jelly? Just looking at the definitions alone, it’s plain to see that they certainly compliment each other. Simply put…fashion is wearable art. The artist or wearer is expressing themselves to the world with how they style the outfit.
Think about it, you probably didn’t design the outfit that you are wearing right now. But you shopped for pieces that you found to be beautiful and displayed them on your blank canvas (or body 😉) however you were inspired to do so. People interpret things differently so there’s no right or wrong to it. Yet another benefit to being unique! It’s all about how the art influenced you and how you choose to convey that.
Since most fashion coveters recognize style as a form of expression, it’s easy to appreciate how other artists decorate their blank canvas. Check out these original pieces of art and the outfits that were born from their inspiration!

Inspiration comes from everything you see, hear, and feel throughout your daily life, if you let it. So it doesn’t hurt to take a moment to stop and allow the things around to inspire you. You never know how you will be painting your blank canvas next!

If you haven’t found the time to watch the 2016 Olympics in Rio, then you are missing quite an event. The opening ceremony was nothing short of breath-taking. And that was only the beginning! Winning, losing, crying, bicycle crashes, falls, etc. The roller coaster of emotions it sends you through is oddly entertaining. I mean, screaming “USA, USA, USA” at the tv isn’t something I find myself doing too often, so that alone makes it worth the ride.
Through it all, this fearless fashionista can’t help but to be curious about fashion surrounding this huge event. From weird rules to the real value of a gold medal…check out these 12 fun, fashion facts about the 2016 Rio Olympics.
There’s still time to catch more of the events since its last day is Aug 21st. I’ll keep you posted on all things fashion & style.

Capes are one of my favorite trends. The style is very simplistic but it’s so defining that it is the “it” piece to any outfit. I’ve always found that it’s one of my most asked about garments when I go out wearing it. “Where did you get that from?”, “Now that’s interesting” or “love your cape” are just a few of the comments but I’ve surely heard them all. Perhaps it’s the intrigue that a cape gives you. Do people revert to their favorite cape wearing super hero and suddenly feel safe? Or is it simply because the admirers know that the wearer of this fab piece is c-o-n-f-i-d-e-n-t. And they are either hating or appreciating. Either way, who cares…a girl has to wear what makes her feel good, right?
So, if you already have one in your fashion arsenal or if you are considering coping one yourself, check out these chic ways to wear a cape!

I was recently contacted by a reader who asked, “How do I dress sporty without looking like I’m going to the gym?” My first thought was to wonder what a fashionista would consider sporty. T-shirts, jeans, and sneakers? Yoga pants, tanks, and flip-flops? Casual or dressy? Does it cause a flash back to the 90s when the Spice Girls were everywhere spreading their girl power? Who could forget Sporty Spice dancing in a sports bra style top with track pants and sneakers?

No shade to her style, but let’s just say that track pants aren’t always fitting for the occasion.
For fun, I looked up sporty in the dictionary. It said flashy or showy in dress or behavior; casual yet attractively stylish. Couldn’t agree more myself. 😏
Rest assured…you don’t have to look like you’re headed to a burn session on the treadmill. It’s actually quite the opposite. Here are the outfits to prove it:

Bodysuit | Wrap Skirt | Perfume Handbag | Converse | Lipstick & Polish – Pinterest
Wearing sneakers with dresses and skirts is an easy way to take the look from dressy to sporty.

Trousers | Clutch | Rings & Sunglasses | Cavs Sweatshirt
You can root for your team in a sporty style, too! Rock a team sweatshirt or jersey with pieces that are super feminine like stack rings, sunglasses and a cute clutch bag.

Jumpsuit | Accessories | Heels – Pinterest
A baseball hat does the trick.
As you can see, dressing sporty doesn’t mean you have to look like you actually going to play a sport. It’s more like taking a stylish outfit and putting a casual twist to it. Are you a sporty girl? Which look is your favorite?
